Pinogy POS Training Guide: Products - PIDB
The PIDB, or Pet Industry Database, can be used to look up products that you may be interested in carrying, or for adding information to Products that you already have in stock.
Enter a description of the product you want to look up. In this case, we will use “Kong”.
Any product matching that partial description will show in the main window.
We will use the example of “Kong Kitty Toy”. Double-clicking the line item will bring up the Manage PIDB screen. This screen will display information stored in the database on that particular product.
Displayed will be Description, Manufacturer, Brand, Category and Subcategory, and any UPCs related to that product.
If there are PIDB suppliers that carry that product, they will be displayed here. If there are suppliers that show Your Cost, those suppliers provide us with your catalog pricing each month.
Click the Sync tab.
If the product is not already in the Products module of the POS, you can easily create it. If it does already exist, you can sync the Description, Manufacturer, Category, Barcode, etc., as shown in the diagram below.
To create the product, click Create in POS. This will open the New Product window so you can modify any information you would like to, and set pricing on the product before it’s created in your POS.
In the case of an existing product, you may want to sync what is in the PIDB with the product in the POS. In this example, we will want to sync the Description and Category.
Click Sync to change your product Description and Category to what is in the PIDB.
Click the Media tab.
Some products have media associated with them, and these pictures or videos will be imported when syncing PIDB products. Also, some products have E-commerce information, including a Marketing Message, Product Information, Ingredients, etc. This enhanced information is available if you have subscribed to the PIDB Enhanced data option.
