How to set a Product to be Tax Exempt

This article is for anyone who needs to set Gift Cards or other products to be tax-exempt in the Pinogy POS.

You can set Gift cards or any other product to be tax-exempt by doing the following:  

1. Open the Products module.

2. Search for the product you want to make tax-exempt.

3. Once found select the product by highlighting it.

4. Click Manage. This will open the Manage Product window for that product.

5. Click on the Location Settings tab.

6. Click Customize. This will open the Manage Tax window.

7. Put a check in Tax Exempt. This will need to be done for each location if you have multiple locations.

8. Click Save.

9. Make sure Tax Exempt shows up in the Override Taxes section.

10. Click Save.

Now the product will be set to tax-exempt, and you can sell the product in the Cash Register without taxes appearing. You may have to close and reopen the Cash Register for the changes to take effect.
