Astro Loyalty Frequent Buyer and Sales Tax
Most states require that you collect sales tax on any discount that you are receiving a reimbursement for. For that reason, Pinogy POS by default will collect sales tax on Astro Frequent Buyer free bags. Below are instructions on how you can change this if you do not want to collect sales tax on Astro Frequent Buyer free bags. Please check to see if your state requires these taxes before turning this off or you may be liable for paying them.
Instructions
Log into Global Settings & Configuration
Go to Locations
Select and Manage the location you want to change this setting on and then either double-click it or click Manage.
Click on the Options tab
Within the Options tab, go down to the “Reimbursed Discount Taxes” section and change the setting from Pre-Discount to Post-Discount.
Pre-Discount has taxes applied to the price before discounts are taken into account. This includes completely free items due to Astro Frequent Buyer redemptions. Even if all they get is a free bag, they will have to pay tax on the redeemed bag with this selected. This is required for taxes in certain states.
Post-Discount will apply taxes after discounts so if a sale only had a free redeemed bag on it then there would be no tax for a customer to pay.
Click on Save.
Restart the Cash Register application. At this point, the POS will no longer collect sales tax on Astro Loyalty Frequent Buyer free bags.
