E-Commerce and how it is affected by MAP and MSP

This article is for anyone who needs to know how to set MAP and MSP pricing and how it affects a Pinogy E-Commerce site.

Our system supports MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) and MSP (Minimum Selling Price). These are set in Products for each individual product.

MAP is the lowest price that manufacturers want to be advertised online (Minimum Advertised Price). If the actual price is lower then the system will show a Lower than (MAP) message. The actual price will be shown once the product is in the customer’s cart.

MSP is the lowest price that manufacturers want an item to be sold at online (Minimum Selling Price). Even if the in-store price is lower our system will only allow an e-commerce sale to proceed at the MSP price. For example in the picture below the MSP is set for 35.99. The E-Commerce site will show and sell the product at the MSP price instead of your regular in-store price.

Once these are set the E-Commerce site will use them to determine what to display for a price. In the picture above the in-store price is lower than both the MAP and MSP but the website will display either the MSP or it will show a message stating that the price is lower than the MAP.

This will also be shown on the product detail page.

The actual price will be displayed once the item is in the cart. This price will either be the actual price or a MSP if a MSP is specified and greater than the in-store price. If there is not a MSP specified then it will show the in-store price.

This next product has a MSP but not a MAP. The in-store price is lower but only the MSP shows.

There is no Lower than $ message.
