How To Switch the Safety Stock Purchase Order Version
Safety stock helps the system suggest how much to order so you don’t run out. You can choose which “version” of that logic your location uses. This page tells you how to switch and what each version does.
How to switch the Safety Stock version
Open Purchasing and Receiving.
Go to Manage Settings (or your usual settings screen for purchasing).
Find Advanced Options and open it (click or tap it so the options below it show).
Find the Safety Stock Version dropdown.
Choose Version 1, Version 2, or Version 3.
The new choice is saved as soon as you pick it. You should see a message like “Setting has been updated.”
You can change it anytime. The next time you run a safety stock ordering, it will use the version you selected.
What each version includes
Version 1
Included: The original way of suggesting orders. Uses your safety stock min and max days and your usual ordering rules and most overrides.
Not included: Newer rules that use “min and max quantity” per location. Does not skip items that are on a “do not replenish” type of deal when building the list of what to order.
Use Version 1 if you want to keep the same behavior you had before the newer versions were added or experience a specific issue preventing a new version from being able to generate your order.
Version 2
Included: Updated ordering rules. Can use min and max quantity per location so the system suggests ordering between a minimum and maximum amount. Can skip products that are set so they are not used for replenishment (e.g. some promotional or discounted items).
Not included: The latest fixes that reduce duplicate lines on orders and improve how the system handles special cases (e.g. negative inventory).
Use Version 2 if you want the updated min/max quantity behavior but don’t need the latest fixes or experience a specific issue preventing a new version from being able to generate your order.
Version 3
Included: Everything in Version 2, plus fixes so you get fewer duplicate lines on purchase orders and better behavior when inventory or data is in an unusual state (e.g. negative inventory). This is the version that gets the newest improvements.
Not included: Supplier Inventory and Supplier Promotion pricing is not yet taken into consideration.
Use Version 3 if you want the newest behavior and the fewest ordering issues. This is the one we recommend for most locations.

If you don’t see Safety Stock Version or Advanced Options, your role may not have access. Ask your manager or your support team. If you’re not sure which version to use, start with Version 3 unless you were told to use 1 or 2.
