Sometimes when the pinpads stop working a reboot is required to restart. A software reboot is usually enough but you may need to do a hard reboot if that doesn’t work.
To do a software reboot you will need to hold down the yellow button and either the button with the symbols or some stores have reported a minus sign depending on the older varients of the pinpads. Hold down those 2 buttons until the pinpad reboots. Please wait for it to say bolted (older pinpads) or connected (newer models). If the pindpad does not reconnect check the internet connection to make sure it is working.

If a software reboot does not fix the issue then you may need to do a hard reboot or power cycle of the pinpad. Locate the power cord for the pinpad and unplug it from either the pinpad (if it comes out - some cannot be detached) or the power outlet it is plugged into. You can do either one as long as the end result is all power is cut off from the pinpad. It needs to stay disconnected for at least 30 seconds. After plugging it back in wait until the pinpad says bolted or connected. If after 2 minutes it still does not say it is connected or bolted then there may be other issues such as the internet or internal networking equipment the pinpad connects to not functioning.
