This article is for anyone who needs to make a discount for a group of customers.

Many stores have discounts that apply to groups of customers. The most common would be employee, friends and family, veteran, and senior discounts. To assign these discounts to a group of customers is easily done with the Pinogy Point of Sale.

First, start off by creating the group and naming it.

For this we will just call it Apples for our example:

  1. Open Global Settings and Configuration.

  2. Go to Employees.

  3. Select any Employee.

  4. Within the Employee account select the ellipsis beside “Groups“.

  5. In the Sub Groups section select the green plus icon.

  6. Name The Group.

  7. Save

After you have a group created under Employees or Customers, you can now create and assign a discount to the group.

  1. Open the Products module.

  2. Select Promos.

  3. Select the New button.

  4. Select Create Custom. This will open the Manage Promotion window.

  1. In the Manage Promotion window name the Discount.

  2. Select the Type with the drop-down menu. For our example we will use Percent Off.

  3. Enter the Discount amount. The wording and discount amount will vary based on the type of discount given.

    1. Amount Off will have an Amount off each discount. Ex: $1 dollar off each bag of promo dog food.

    2. Frequent Buyer will have a Reward Quantity which will be an additional amount of Frequent buyer rewards.

    3. Percent Off will let you enter a percent off the item's price. Ex 50% off the price on the promo items

    4. Price will reduce the price per each of the promo item. Ex : normal price $3.00 - during promo $2.50

  4. Under the “Qualifiers Per Invoice” section, Check the box for Groups and choose the group you created.

  5. Press Save

Adding Qualifying products.

  1. The Second tab is dynamic and will change depending on what is selected in the “Limit By” drop box. -An additional tab called “Excluding Products“ will appear next to the second tab, if the option for “Selected Categories Excluding Specific Products“ is selected.

  2. If “Limit By” is not selected, all store products will be included in the promotion.

  1. Use The second tab to include/exclude products and categories as shown below with the.

  2. Use the “Add” button to search for products.

  3. Be sure to press “Save” when you are finished.

This is not required to use this promo as a discount. Leave “Limit By” unchecked if you want to apply this promo to all products, for the assigned customers/employees.

  1. Before you start a sale, make sure you have added this Discount (Promo) to the corresponding customer or employee, using the group drop box.

  2. Press save after you have assigned the discount.

Once you have assigned the discount to the customer, a sale to this person will look something like this:

  • In the example provided in this “how-to”, we used the “Limit By” options to add only two products in the discount.

  • The first product on the sales screen below was not added to the included products tab, so you can see how it would be displayed.

Don't worry you can go back and make changes to the Discount (Promo) at any time!
